Summer fabrics, how I love them! I have collected some good finds over the summer, both antique and not so much. I’ve been enjoying my linen Billy Reid shorts, vintage finds including shoes, blouses, paintings, and this perfect book, “Shopping Around the East and Near East.” If only I had found that book a few years ago, it would have brought me much knowledge as I wandered through the tunnels of markets in many-a-country!!
Anyways, today is my last day in Florence! I can’t even believe that my time at Billy Reid has come to a close. I can’t wait to share the behind the scenes photos from the Fall Campaign! Unfortunately, you will have to wait patiently until the campaign photos are released next week, though!
I am headed to Asheville, NC tomorrow for a holiday! I hope to do some extreme outdoor activities (hahahaha), eat some amazing food, and sit by the river at our cabin! Expect photos from that as well, of course.
Lovelies Alice Hardin and Lisa Garner came to visit me here! We ate some scrumptious food (Alice made a tasty breakfast), relaxed as if we were on a mini-vacation, saw the sights (hahaha), and enjoyed our short time to the max. Alice even gave Lisa and me a couple of fashion shows!!!!!

In Florence, Alabama, the houses are beautiful in their age, vibrant green trees shade the roads, antiques are everywhere, music roots run deep, enjoying time by the water is a huge part of life, and the restaurants prove to be delicious. Despite working in the craziness of fashion, things are somehow slower here. Even still, no matter how wonderful the place may be, when one is away from his or her love, there will always be blues in the South!
The man is from another era. I absolutely loved his performance on the Saturday night of Shindig, and without a doubt, I believe the rest of the attendees agreed with me. “Music and fashion, its peas and carrots anyway,” said Billy Reid in his conversation with J. Crew.
Last week at Billy Reid we had the privilege of shooting Quinta Witzel (pictured here in front of the historic Shoals Theatre) for the web! She is an incredibly talented model, and she made styling super easy. After the shoot we had some down time and got to explore a little bit of Florence. We drank Italian creme sodas from Rivertown (they were so amazing that I promise you we must have discussed them for a good ten minutes), tried on $5.00 jeans at the general store, and purchased blouses at salvation army! Southern hospitality, I’d say.
I had the pleasure of playing a small part in the Spring ’11 Campaign for Billy Reid in Florence, Alabama. My time included compiling and styling looks, packing and unpacking (tons of) clothes and shoes with assistant designer Jonathan Skagfield, and assisting Tricia Coble with makeup and hair! An amazing learning experience all together, and a total blast. Robert Rausch shot the campaign and the models were Yuliana Bondar with IMG and Patrick Clark with Ford. All of these photographs are from the day we shot at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Rosenbaum house. Amazing locations and such great people!
