The photo shoot at the Neil House was incredibly fun, and being in a great location was such a treat. I love it any time there are tons of shoes, vintage and new clothes, oodles of jewelry, an array of makeup, and many great friends!
I was also so happy to be able to once again collaborate with Kristi McMurry! She did an entirely separate shoot in the house at the same time as me. While we were shooting away, TJ got some behind the scenes photos! Hilary did a phenomenal job, and Ming Tay had her big debut as a makeup artist. Maria, one of the girls in the Hartland photography class, got to help me out as well. Despite it being extremely toasty in the house, every single person stuck it out beautifully!!
Please enjoy the video by Miss Margaret Brinson as a preview for the photos that I will present to you later this week! View it full screen and enjoy!
Check back in for my images from the day later this week. Much love!
PLAY // “Lover Man” by Billie Holiday
Wednesday night I sat in my little room looking at cotton candy pink roses (that my loved one, TJ, gave me) as if they were TV. Lately, not too many things can make me happier than roses (I’m sure you’ve picked up on that…way too much flower talk). I looked over at them so many times as I was reading Four Spirits, waiting to go downstairs for shelter. The rain and the storms have come and gone though, and sunshine thankfully followed…giving us just enough time to have a dinner of arugula and tomato pizza outdoors…which was followed by 31 cent ice cream scoops at Baskin-Robbins.
Last night I might have just loved Jackson, Tennessee.
I had the pleasure of playing a small part in the Spring ’11 Campaign for Billy Reid in Florence, Alabama. My time included compiling and styling looks, packing and unpacking (tons of) clothes and shoes with assistant designer Jonathan Skagfield, and assisting Tricia Coble with makeup and hair! An amazing learning experience all together, and a total blast. Robert Rausch shot the campaign and the models were Yuliana Bondar with IMG and Patrick Clark with Ford. All of these photographs are from the day we shot at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Rosenbaum house. Amazing locations and such great people!

SONG of the DAY: “Barton Hollow” by The Civil Wars, off their new album:
This song is about Muscle Shoals, AL… Not far from Billy Reid!
I just got the film back last night from last week at Hartland. First I showed them some examples of photos with solid backgrounds, and then we had a “photo shoot” in which the girls functioned as art directors/stylists… and they directed the “models” completely on their own. At first, I was going to shoot, but they wanted to sooo bad that I handed over the camera! Terica and Maria worked beautifully together. I was incredibly impressed… When one was shooting, the other was fixing hand positioning, clothing, etc. on the model. Teamwork?? Achieved. I love seeing these girls grow together.
How cute are Jim and Carol Veneman?! Our class is ONLY POSSIBLE because Jim had faith and allowed me to go with my idea of reverting to disposables again… thank you thank you thank you! Ooh yes, and the faithful Union girls that come every week. You all rock.
So many shoes! So many clothes! The cutest model ever!
This is a glimpse behind the scenes of the shoot I did… with the help of Kristi Mcmurry, Haley Gallagher, Margaret Brinson, and Alesia Fisher….
Each one of the ladies did different things (I will explain later!!) and I was so grateful for them all. I hope you like the photos when I post them soon…I am not really a studio gal, but I figured I needed to give it a try, and if I was going to give it a try I was going to go all out!
