There are longer days, columned entrances, front porches, watered plants, and wildflowers. Friends and family will be visiting for the next few weekends or so and I will enjoy every bit of it until the summer is whisked away from all of us! Let’s try not to think about that yet though!
I know I am about to have a good time if it involves a night out with this fine lady at Chez Fon Fon, and last week was no exception! Our hour long wait paled in comparison to the decadent meal of fresh ingredients and one of my favorite desserts in town: chocolate caramel-nut tart. Frank Stitt is a genius. Oh yeah, and the conversation wasn’t too bad either… We stayed at our table for hours and I’m sure that the waiter (and the people waiting) wanted to kick us out long before we said our final adieus.
I also love how they often play James Brown remixes at Chez…
I heart Birmingham. And summer. Which I think I’ve made pretty obvious by now. Well, I’m off to Nashville for the weekend to celebrate TJ’s birthday and attend a wedding!
Anybody want to whisk me away to Alys Beach? I have been dreaming of it day and night. I want a vacation.
PLAY: “Summertime” by Jesca Hoop:
More of Alys can be seen HERE. How about Charleston? That is nice and warm..HERE. For more vacations in general, see HERE.
What do I have to say about Malibu?
Beach!!! BLUE water! Huge rocks! 61 degrees!! Modern boxy looking houses all smushed together! Surfers! Model-esque ladies trotting around! Louboutins (text Margaret immediately)!!!
What should one listen to whilst in Malibu? Taio Cruz, Bonobo ft. Bajka, & The Black Keys.
We ate lunch at the super relaxed Malibu Market and I tried on some really beautiful over-the-knee boots at a store next door. I saw this one girl wearing her Louboutin white heeled booties with skinnies, a white tank, a delicious cream sweater, and messy-beachy hair and I thought, ‘AH!! So casuallll, maybe I’ll try that!!’ And then it came to me… Oh yeah I don’t have any Louboutins.
And that, my friends, was Malibu!!
Lots of fun.
(ASAP [I am currently moving to Tennessee again], I will show you OJAI, Ca. And then you may want to crawl under a rock and ask yourself, “WHY AM I NOT THERE RIGHT THIS MINUTE??!?” That’s what we are doing, and knew we would we do as soon as we flew away from LAX…or as soon as we closed the door to our hotel room.)
