Rebekah and Ben’s wedding weekend in Louisville was filled with bliss! I was so very happy to be a part of the celebration with them. That Saturday, TJ & I ran the necessary last minute errands and I got to hang around the house while everyone got ready (drinking more than a necessary amount of coffee). Trying not to get in this photographer’s way, I shot the ladies as they prepared for the ceremony! Rebekah looked exquisite, and her bridesmaids were so very sweet. The Hester’s room is great and it was the perfect space to get ready in. I love the rituals that a bride goes through to prepare for her wedding… so symbolic and beautiful. I hope these images resemble a figment of every girl’s imagination, and give you a look into the unknown world of ladies primping for a bride’s special day.

This weekend was wonderful… TJ and I shot the Gardner’s wedding in Mississippi! TJ shot oodles of film, and I handled the digital. The results will be gorgeous, I just know it! It was a delightful day, full of love and family. They were such a sweet couple, and their story is adorable. I am so glad these two fine people found each other!
Congrats Whitney and Justin, and have a fabulous honeymoon!!
TJ got the film back today from Matt and Katherine’s wedding he assisted me on, and I adore some of his shots.
We had so much fun being in Memphis for their day (the perfect excuse to stay with friend Kathleen Murray, eat at Houston’s, have Illy coffee EVERY day, and do an Etsy photo shoot for Erika Schnatterly). Also, their wedding party was so much fun AND I got to play a role I never have in a wedding… THE MAKEUP ARTIST. Hahaha I LOVED IT.
Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Morse!!!
More to come later…. today I am en route to California!!
Sallie’s dress was beautifully refined and not to mention humongous (while Sallie is tiny), and Patrick couldn’t have looked more dapper in his grey suit.
A day of bliss. Total bliss, people.
All I have to give them is a big whopping thanks! …For letting me photograph their wedding; a first for me, having entire responsibility of the day. And man oh man did I learn! While also having so much fun!! Clearly, the entire wedding party was a pleasure, and the bride and groom (my dear friends) couldn’t have treated me any better! The preparation, the ceremony, and the reception, were all gorgeous. I mean it. I want to keep blabbing, but just see for yourself!
BIG THANKS to Kate Allen for assisting me. Some of these images are hers and she did such a fabulous job!
Also, thanks to TJ Hester for putting these images together and posting them, all while I was in flight.
All I’d want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and green
All I’d want is you to shade me and be my leaves
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

Sallie + Patrick’s first dance.
Best thing ever.
Sallie even fell backwards in the grass.
But it was ok because her dress is one large and beautiful cream puff.
And they were dancing silly, so it was all in good humor.
P.s. I am experimenting with the Rollei 35s, and don’t quite have it down yet… Just wanted to share one!
was a beautiful bride!! I can’t wait to show you more photos from this gorgeous day, but for now this is all I am going to give you… until they are all finished and some film is developed.
I teared up looking at them. Oh my. It feels like yesterday they asked me to shoot their big day, before I had ever assisted a wedding or even considered doing so. As soon as they asked me, I thought…. Well this is a really big deal!!! I best do as many of these before that day as I can!! Soooo as a result I have been able to assist multiple, learning different things each time. I have so very far to go, but I hope they love these images more than they ever thought they could, and my wish is that they last a lifetime!
All in all, it was a fabulous day and much thanks to my assistant Kate Allen! More to come, my friends.
Yes, yes, I am still on vacation in Charleston, but I cannot deprive you of these photos any longer!! A couple of Saturdays ago, I ventured to Memphis to photograph Matt and Katherine… they are engaged! We had a wonderful time hiking around Shelby Farms… avoiding the oodles of families swarming about. But these two were troopers, and I loved spending time with them. I can’t wait to photograph their August wedding!
I was more than pleased to visit Memphis for the day. I got to eat real food (and wait for two hours*) at Houston’s Restaurant (one of my absolute favorites), and also got to shop at an Anthropologie** that was a mere two days old! Whole Foods and coffee were a part of the day as well. Altogether a fabulous day. I don’t know what I would do without my day trips.
Thank you, Matt and Katherine for choosing me!
*If it wasn’t for dear TJ, there might be one less bad hostess in the world. I wanted to pounce on her, and seat myself.
**Yessssss of course, Katherine and I made the boys go!
